kyber cosmic league season 6

Kyber Cosmic League, season 6, round 9: Nébal (Scum and Villainy) vs Oscar Ice (Galactic Empire) (streamed on Hexiled Gaming)

Publié le par Nébal

Kyber Cosmic League, season 6, round 9! Which is the final round of this tournament, as it is the last of the third pod.

This game was streamed by Hexiled Gaming on its Twitch channel (also check for the YouTube channel of the same name right there). So many thanks to Scott for the stream, and to Funwok as well, who helped him on the commentary! Thanks also for having graciously sent me the file so that I can feature it on Random Academy Pilot!

(And thanks for the Mux’ed token as well!)

In this league there were precisely 200 players, dispatched in 50 pools or pods of four players. There was a round robin within pods, with one game a week. Then, after three weeks, new pods were drawn. And then you repeated that once again, for a total of three pods and nine rounds. Lists were extended format, and they were not locked, they could be changed whenever you wanted.

For this final round. I have been paired with Oscar, a very nice player from Poland, who brought the following Galactic Empire list, a swarm of Interceptors and Aggressors:

TIE Interceptor – Saber Squadron Ace – 35

Saber Squadron Ace (35)

Total: 200/200

As for myself, I brought the Scum and Villainy list I initially designed for the second season of the Balance of The Force tournament, with everybody’s favorite lizard and some friends:

Lancer-class Pursuit Craft – •Ketsu Onyo – 76

•Ketsu Onyo – Black Sun Contractor (66)

Shadow Caster (1)

•Gamut Key (6)

Contraband Cybernetics (3)

YV-666 Light Freighter•Bossk – 68

•Bossk – Fearsome Hunter (60)

•Greedo (1)

•Zam Wesell (4)

HWK-290 Light Freighter – •Torkil Mux – 56

•Torkil Mux – Mercenary Miner (38)

Moldy Crow (16)

•Protectorate Gleb (2)

Total: 200/200

Now to the game.

BEWARE: RIGHT AFTER THIS OMINOUS DARTH VADER PICTURE, I WILL REVEAL HOW THE GAME TURNED OUT. IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS, WATCH THE VIDEO BEFORE READING FURTHER!

Victory for the Scum and Villainy, 200-162! Well, that was brutal, only half a Ketsu remaining in the end… This game could have gone both ways. I was very afraid after my insanely ineffective first engagement, but killing two Interceptors in the same round after that was a relief. There was a lot of back and forth during the whole game, and our dices were… weird? Oscar certainly ran out of luck at some point… Anyway, great game, and thanks, Oscar!

So in the end I’m 5-4. Although to be fair I should say 4-4, since our good friend Kaplan and I couldn’t play our game and I had a bid… Not a mind-blowing performance. The first pod was ok, but the two others not so much. My MoV is not very good, and I don’t know where I will end on the ladder (currently I’m 73rd on 200, but there are quite a lot of games not played yet, so I’ll inevitably finish lower than that, maybe way lower…).

Anyway, that was fun. But it’s time to try new lists, for sure: I still enjoy my Malarus TIE/fo swarm, and might run it again in future tournaments or leagues, but right now is the good time to move on.

I’m attending two events in the near future, the 2nd season of the Balance of the Force tournament, as well as the 3rd season of the Rogue Outpost weekly league. In both tournaments, I will have to play different lists, and I’m quite excited about that. We’ll see what happens…

See you soon!

Kyber Cosmic League, season 6, round 8: Nébal (Scum and Villainy) vs Tomislav Brdar (Scum and Villainy)

Publié le par Nébal

Kyber Cosmic League, season 6, round 8! And a new battle report in English. Of course, I’m French, so I’m genetically designed to speak and write an awful English… Please be kind!

In this league, there are precisely 200 players, dispatched in 50 pools or pods of four players. There’s a round robin within pods, with one game a week. Then, after three weeks, new pods are drawn. And then you repeat that once again, for a total of three pods and nine rounds. Lists are extended format, and they are not locked, they can be changed whenever you want.

This is the second game of the third and final pod, and I have been paired with Tomislav, a very nice player from Croatia, who brought the following Scum and Villainy list, a frightening swarm of Fangs and Scyks:

Fang FighterZealous Recruit – 41

Zealous Recruit (41)

Total: 198/200

As for myself, this time I didn’t bring my Malarus TIE/fo swarm, and chose instead to play the Scum and Villainy list I designed for the Balance of the Force tournament, and you may have already seen it in my Top 32 game for the fourth season of the Ligue Millenium Condor:

Lancer-class Pursuit Craft – •Ketsu Onyo – 76

•Ketsu Onyo – Black Sun Contractor (66)

Shadow Caster (1)

•Gamut Key (6)

Contraband Cybernetics (3)

YV-666 Light Freighter•Bossk – 68

•Bossk – Fearsome Hunter (60)

•Greedo (1)

•Zam Wesell (4)

Contraband Cybernetics (3)

HWK-290 Light Freighter – •Torkil Mux – 56

•Torkil Mux – Mercenary Miner (38)

Moldy Crow (16)

•Protectorate Gleb (2)

Total: 200/200

Now to the game.

BEWARE: RIGHT AFTER THIS OMINOUS DARTH VADER PICTURE, I WILL REVEAL HOW THE GAME TURNED OUT. IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS, WATCH THE VIDEO BEFORE READING FURTHER!

Defeat for my Scums, and a very bad one once again, 200-29… Well, that was rough. Torkil was not really helping there with I1 enemy ships, green dices forbade Bossk of doing much damage, and then he was trapped on this rock… Ketsu tried but didn’t do much neither after that, and the turret in the rear prevented her from using her ability as well as Shadow Caster… but to be fair the game was already lost at this point. Good game, Tomislav, and I wish you the best of luck for the final round of the tournament!

So I’m 0-2 for this pod right now, ugh, and 4-4 total. That’s bad. Only one more round to go, we’ll see what happens next week… See you soon!

Defeat for the First Order, and a very bad one, 200-34… A terrible game for me. The matchup may have been a bit rough, but I did so many stupid mistakes… I must apologize at this point. Good game, Ale, and I wish you the best of luck for the remainder of the tournament!

So I’m 0-1 for this pod right now, and 4-3 total. We’ll see what happens next week… See you soon!

Kyber Cosmic League, season 6, round 5: Andre Paris (Separatists) vs Nébal (First Order) (streamed on Hexiled Gaming)

Publié le par Nébal

Kyber Cosmic League, season 6, round 5! Yeah, it’s a bit out of sequence, since I’ve already played and uploaded on this very channel my round 6 game. The reason for the delay is that I didn’t record this game myself, as it was streamed by Hexiled Gaming on its Twitch channel (also check for the YouTube channel of the same name right there). So many thanks to Scott for the stream, and to Deathrain as well, who helped him on the commentary! Thanks also for having graciously sent me the file so that I can feature it on Random Academy Pilot!

This was the fifth round total, and therefore the second round of the second pod. I had been paired with Andre, a very nice player from New Zealand, who brought the following Separatists list, with a very scary Zam Wesell, a treacherous Grievous (because of course), and way too many bombs for my sanity:

Firespray-class Patrol Craft•Zam Wesell – 100

•Zam Wesell – Clawdite Changeling (76)

•Count Dooku (10)

Treacherous (2)

Thermal Detonators (3)

Hull Upgrade (5)

Rigged Cargo Chute (4)

Belbullab-22 Starfighter•General Grievous – 56

•General Grievous – Ambitious Cyborg (44)

Treacherous (2)

Hyena-class Droid Bomber•••Bombardment Drone – 42

•••Bombardment Drone – Time on Target (29)

Landing Struts (1)

Seismic Charges (3)

Thermal Detonators (3)

Trajectory Simulator (6)

Total: 198/200

As for myself, well, I brought a First Order list, yes, once again my Malarus TIE/fo swarm. I know, it might get boring, but I haven’t really had time to think of something else and try it; I’ll do that eventually, I promise…

Xi-class Light Shuttle•Commander Malarus – 58

•Commander Malarus – Vindictive Taskmaster (45)

Defeat for the First Order, and a very bad one, 174-50

I.

Played.

Horribly.

Well of course I did, since it was a streamed game! Now hold on, Nébal: I was kidding of course, and won’t pretend that had anything to do with this crushing defeat. But I must apologise for that to the streamers and viewers. The fact is I played very, very badly for the whole duration of the game. The matchup was a bit hard for me, I guess (swarms hate bombs, and there were a lot of them), Zam is a terror, and that pesky Bombardment Drone SHOULD HAVE DIED! It should! Yet it didn’t, eh, and it made my life very difficult. Now Andre on his part played very well, contrary to me, and he absolutely deserved this decisive victory. And he was a great opponent, a very nice person. GG, Andre, and I wish you the best of luck for the remainder of the tournament!

After this game, I was 0-2 for this pod, and 3-2 total. Since, I’ve played and won my sixth round, being 1-2 in the end for this pod, and therefore 4-2 total. Let’s say this pod didn’t work very well for me… The third and final one will begin next week, we’ll see what happens then… See you soon!

With this round begins the second pod. For this first round of the second pod (but fourth round total), I have been paired with Ashok, a very nice player from England, who brought the following Rebel Alliance list, the kind that shares tokens for days:

Defeat for the First Order, 73-74… I really should have used Hondo Ohnaka to give an evade token to “Scorch” on that last turn… Well, you live and learn (hopefully), and it was close nonetheless, actually way closer than I hoped I could achieve after the first two rounds of fire. One point difference in the end, maybe it’s karma for my first game of this tournament! Great game, Ashok, thanks, and I wish you the best of luck for the remainder of the tournament!

So I’m 0-1 for this pod, and 3-1 total. We’ll see what happens next week, see you soon!

Kyber Cosmic League, season 6, round 3: Nébal (First Order) vs Nicholas Rorich (First Order)

Publié le par Nébal

Kyber Cosmic League, season 6, round 3!

I have been assigned to pool 46; they tried to organize pods according to time zones, so that match coordination would be easier. For this third and final round of the first pod, I have been paired with Nicholas, a very nice player from South Africa, who brought the following First Order list, a Malarus swarm:

Xi-class Light Shuttle•Commander Malarus – 49

•Commander Malarus – Vindictive Taskmaster (45)

Proud Tradition (2)

•Protectorate Gleb (2)

TIE/fo FighterEpsilon Squadron Cadet – 25

Epsilon Squadron Cadet (25)

TIE/fo FighterEpsilon Squadron Cadet – 25

Epsilon Squadron Cadet (25)

Total: 199/200

As for myself, well, I brought my Malarus TIE/fo swarm… but a slightly different one from previous games, a lighter one we could say, with a small bid, by getting rid of Automated Target Priority on my Cadets

Xi-class Light Shuttle•Commander Malarus – 58

•Commander Malarus – Vindictive Taskmaster (45)

•Agent Terex (7)

•Hondo Ohnaka (6)

TIE/fo Fighter•“Scorch” – 33

•“Scorch” – Zeta Leader (33)

TIE/fo Fighter•“Longshot” – 31

TIE/fo FighterEpsilon Squadron Cadet – 25

Epsilon Squadron Cadet (25)

Total: 197/200

Two Malarus… and 11 TIE/fo Fighters on the board.

That’s a lot.

Now to the game.

BEWARE: RIGHT AFTER THIS OMINOUS DARTH VADER PICTURE, I WILL REVEAL HOW THE GAME TURNED OUT. IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS, WATCH THE VIDEO BEFORE READING FURTHER!

Victory for the First Order! Well, yeah, obviously… Victory for the Malarus swarm! Well, yeaaaaaaaaah, Nébal, is that very old and very bad joke really necessary? Ok: victory for my Malarus swarm! 125-100, a close one once again… That game was exhausting, but a lot of fun as well, and very, very brutal. I liked it very much, and Nicholas was a wonderful opponent. GG and the best of luck for the remainder of the tournament!

Sadly, our good friend Kaplan and I couldn’t play our match for week 2, and he had to concede the game to me (100-0)… Too bad, I really hoped we could play together… That also means, weirdly, that I won the pod, being 3-0. Not in the best conditions, though, as I have played only two games instead of three… And with a very, very tiny MoV.

The second pod will be drawn for next week, and we’ll see what happens there… See you soon!

Kyber Cosmic League, season 6, round 1: Nébal (First Order) vs Taloncor (Separatists)

Publié le par Nébal

Kyber Cosmic League, season 6, round 1! And a new battle report in English. Of course, I’m French, so I’m genetically designed to speak and write an awful English… Please be kind!

In this league, there are precisely 200 players, dispatched in 50 pools or pods of four players. There’s a round robin within pods, with one game a week. Therefore, after three weeks, new pods are drawn. And then you repeat that once again, for a total of three pods and nine rounds. Lists are extended format, and they are not locked, they can be changed whenever you want

I have been assigned to pool 46; they tried to organize pods according to time zones, so that match coordination would be easier. For this first round, I have been paired with Taloncor, a very nice player from Germany, who brought the following Separatists list, with four very angry robots:

HMP Droid GunshipBaktoid Drone – 56

Baktoid Drone (34)

Repulsorlift Stabilizers (3)

Now to the game.

BEWARE: RIGHT AFTER THIS OMINOUS DARTH VADER PICTURE, I WILL REVEAL HOW THE GAME TURNED OUT. IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS, WATCH THE VIDEO BEFORE READING FURTHER!

Victory for the First Order, 149-148! Well that was close… I feared I would lose that one when two of my TIE/fo blew up in the first engagement, “Scorch” being one of them, and then when my poor Malarus suffered so much… But in the end, one little point made the difference. GG, Taloncor! And I wish you the best of luck for the remainder of the tournament!

So I’m 1-0 now… We’ll see what happens next week [EDIT: or actually the week after that...]. See you soon!
