Rogue Outpost Weekly League season 3 round 1: Cosmic (Scum and Villainy) vs Nébal (Scum and Villainy)

Publié le par Nébal

Rogue Outpost Weekly League season 3, round 1! And a new battle report in English. Of course, I’m French, so I’m genetically designed to speak and write an awful English… Please be kind!

This league, run by the Rogue Outpost from the UK, is a casual competition with a fun twist: for each round there are specific list building rules. There they are:

  • Round 1: your squad cannot contain small base ships and can only contain one large base ship.
  • Round 2: your squad cannot use upgrades. This includes configurations.
  • Round 3: your squad must be Hyperspace legal.
  • Round 4: each player must bring six obstacles. When placing obstacles ignore standard placement rules.
  • Round 5: your squad cannot be from a faction you’ve used in weeks 1-4 and each ship must carry a device, missile or torpedo.
  • Round 6: using the YASB “Multi-Faction” option, you list must include ships from at least three factions.

I really like this kind of tournaments that compel players, most of the time, to be creative and not rely on the current meta, which can be quite boring after some time. And I really enjoyed season 2.

For this first round, therefore, we couldn’t fly small base ships, but at the same time we could only run one large base ship. And I have been paired with Cosmic, a very nice player from the UK, who brought the following Scum list, a big fat Boba Fett was a quite fat Captain Nym:

Firespray-class Patrol Craft – •Boba Fett – 117

•Boba Fett – Notorious Bounty Hunter (85)

Jamming Beam (0)

Proximity Mines (6)

Thermal Detonators (5)

Hull Upgrade (5)

Stealth Device (6)

Contraband Cybernetics (3)

Andrasta (2)

•Lone Wolf (5)

Scurrg H-6 Bomber – •Captain Nym – 83

•Captain Nym – Captain of the Lok Revenants (45)

Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Proximity Mines (6)

Thermal Detonators (5)

Hull Upgrade (3)

Trajectory Simulator (6)

Havoc (2)

•Dengar (6)

•“Genius” (2)

Expert Handling (3)

Total: 200/200

As for myself, well, because I’m an idiot, I had to rethink my list at the last minute, for I had prepared something very stupid. In the end, my Scum list looked like this, so I had a fatty Nym as well (yet not that fatty), but also, well, an angry Lizard with a dangerous lady, like in the meta before the new points, and a Torani because yes:

YV-666 Light Freighter•Bossk – 76

•Bossk – Fearsome Hunter (60)

Contraband Cybernetics (3)

•Zam Wesell (11)

•Greedo (1)

Composure (1)

Scurrg H-6 Bomber – •Captain Nym – 70

•Captain Nym – Captain of the Lok Revenants (45)

Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Proton Bombs (4)

Seismic Charges (3)

Trajectory Simulator (6)

Havoc (2)

Skilled Bombardier (2)

Expert Handling (3)

M12-L Kimogila Fighter – •Torani Kulda – 54

•Torani Kulda – Rodian Freelancer (48)

Contraband Cybernetics (3)

Expert Handling (3)

Total: 200/200

Now to the game.

BEWARE: RIGHT AFTER THIS OMINOUS DARTH VADER PICTURE, I WILL REVEAL HOW THE GAME TURNED OUT. IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS, WATCH THE VIDEO BEFORE READING FURTHER!

Victory for the Scum and Villainy! Well, my Scum and Villainy, but that was very close, 159-146! I did many mistakes, as always, and flying Nym against Nym was an experience to say the least… Well played, Cosmic, that was a very enjoyable game and I wish you the best of luck for the remainder of the tournament!

So I’m 1-0 now. We’ll see what happens next week, with no upgrades allowed… I have an idea, quite silly but hey! We’ll see…
