Rogue Outpost Weekly League season 3 round 2: Nébal (First Order) vs Robert Carr (Galactic Empire)

Publié le par Nébal

Rogue Outpost Weekly League season 3 round 2! And a new battle report in English. Of course, I’m French, so I’m genetically designed to speak and write an awful English… Please be kind!

This league, run by the Rogue Outpost from the UK, is a casual competition with a fun twist: for each round there are specific list building rules. There they are:

  • Round 1: your squad cannot contain small base ships and can only contain one large base ship.
  • Round 2: your squad cannot use upgrades. This includes configurations.
  • Round 3: your squad must be Hyperspace legal.
  • Round 4: each player must bring six obstacles. When placing obstacles ignore standard placement rules.
  • Round 5: your squad cannot be from a faction you’ve used in weeks 1-4 and each ship must carry a device, missile or torpedo.
  • Round 6: using the YASB “Multi-Faction” option, you list must include ships from at least three factions.

I really like this kind of tournaments that compel players, most of the time, to be creative and not rely on the current meta, which can be quite boring after some time. And I really enjoyed season 2.

For this second round, therefore, no upgrades at all. OK! And I have been paired with Robert, a very nice player from the UK, who brought the following Imperial list, very strong in the Force:

TIE Advanced x1 – •Darth Vader – 66

•Darth Vader – Black Leader (66)

TIE Advanced v1•Grand Inquisitor – 52

•Grand Inquisitor – Master of the Inquisitorious (52)

TIE Advanced v1•Seventh Sister – 43

•Seventh Sister – Sadistic Interrogator (43)

TIE ReaperScarif Base Pilot – 39

•Scarif Base Pilot (39)

Total: 200/200

As for myself, well, Malware still fits with no upgrades, so, hey!

Xi-class Light Shuttle•Commander Malarus – 44

•Commander Malarus – Vindictive Taskmaster (44)

Epsilon Squadron Cadet (26)

Now to the game.

BEWARE: RIGHT AFTER THIS OMINOUS DARTH VADER PICTURE, I WILL REVEAL HOW THE GAME TURNED OUT. IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS, WATCH THE VIDEO BEFORE READING FURTHER!

Defeat for the First Order, 96-53…It was actually pretty close, or at least more that it seems, since one more damage on Vader especially, and maybe on Seventh Sister or the Reaper could have changed a lot. I’m not happy with how I played, though… Too many mistakes, especially regarding Vader: I offered him useful bumps more than once and couldn’t therefore focus fire as much as I would have liked to. Plus Malarus was too far when needed in the end. Robert played very well for sure, and he tricked me with his Reaper especially! Good game, Robert, and I wish you the best of luck for the remainder of the tournament!

So I’m 1-1 now. We’ll see what happens next week, with the most dreaded list-building rule: HYPERSPACE LEGAL! Now that’s frightening… We’ll see what we can do!
